Kindred homes for sale in Cass County, North Dakota are located about 30 miles from the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area. Kindred is chosen by many who commute to and from work in the metro area, including Fargo, Moorhead, and West Fargo. For this reason, Kindred is often called a bedroom community. The city was named for William S. Kindred, a realtor from Fargo, who also served as the city’s mayor from 1882 to 1883. According to the 2010 census, Kindred has a population of 692. Founded in 1880, Kindred real estate is located in the Red River Valley with a view of the hills along the Sheyenne River. This area is known for its rich, fertile soil due to the location and agriculture was once a very important part of this city as well as surrounding cities.
Residents of Kindred real estate are served by the Kindred Public School District. It is one of Cass County’s largest rural school districts. The school district was first organized in 1875 and schools in the district have a reputation for providing excellent educational opportunities. The city has a park board that manages two parks, the summer recreation programs, swimming program and the community Memorial Building.
The city park in Kindred is in the center of the city and is located across from the school. The park includes basketball courts, a sand volleyball court, a picnic shelter, a swimming pool, playground equipment and is also the location of the Memorial Building. Gilbertson Park is behind the baseball diamond at the school and includes a picnic shelter and a softball diamond.
Kindred real estate consists of many older homes that have been well maintained over the years. In addition, there are new, modern homes, townhouses and apartments. Choosing a home in the city of Kindred will provide access to many amenities with the access to highway, airport and railroad service. The West Acres Shopping Center in Fargo, located near the intersection of Interstates 29 and 94 is often visited by residents of surrounding areas.
